How it works

Our Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training is delivered via a combination of in-person practical sessions at Improve Glasgow and home study. 

The practical sessions will run for 10 consecutive weeks on Saturdays from 1pm-5pm.

(We also offer mid-week catch up sessions in case you have prior engagements or emergencies that prevent you from attending a practical workshop to ensure you don’t fall behind.)

The theory side of the course will be completed mostly at home in your own time, however we will help guide you through this part both during the practical sessions and between times via email, phone and/or in-person catch ups.

You will receive all of your course materials on your first day where we’ll talk through the coursework and assignments before we get kicked off with the fun stuff.

Entry Requirements

We require each student to be over the age of 16, fluent in English, and be keen to learn.

Other than that, we have no further prerequisites for undertaking our Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training.

Qualification

Upon successful completion of our course, you will have a Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training. This qualification is accredited by Ofqual, endorsed by CIMSPA and, thus, recognised in every gym not only in the UK but also abroad.

Unit 2: Professionalism and customer care for fitness instructors.

Unit 3: Health and safety in the fitness environment.

Unit 4: Conducting client consultations to support positive behaviour change.

Unit 5: Planning and instructing gym-based exercise.

Unit 6: Applied anatomy and physiology for exercise, health and fitness.

Unit 7: The principles of nutrition and their application to exercise and health.

Unit 8: Understanding lifestyle, health, wellbeing and common medical conditions.

Unit 9: Encouraging positive health and fitness behaviours in clients.

Unit 10: Programme design and delivery for personal training.

Unit 11: Professionalism and business acumen for personal trainers.

FAQ's

Unlike the lion’s share of course providers, the Improve Academy is run by active Personal Trainers who are currently delivering just shy of 1,000 sessions per month. 

You will be trained by a company who are at the cutting edge of the fitness industry, who employ Personal Trainers and who have a big part to play in educating gyms owners and their staff around the U.K. 

As part of our course, you will have the opportunity to shadow our team in order to further enhance your learning and to gain vital experience before you qualify.

No qualifications are necessary. However, you need to be over 16, fluent in English, and keen to learn.

Our courses and seminars are held at Improve Glasgow in Tradeston, Glasgow.

Our Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training is delivered over ten weeks and, assuming you keep up to date with the coursework and homework, you will complete it in ten weeks.

All of the course material will be given to you prior to beginning of the course; including online portal access and learning manuals. During the course you will have access to your tutor who will schedule regular catch ups with you outwith the planned practical days to ensure you are up-to-date and moving in the right direction. You will also have access to the Improve Glasgow team and be able to shadow/observe them in action.

Yes, it is an Ofqual accreditted course (accreditation number 603/2693/1) and is fully endorsed by CIMSPA (the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity). This means that your qualification will be recognised in any gym in the UK, as well as abraod.

The Diploma is £1,999 and can be paid either in full or in three interest free instalments.
